How Much Does LASIK Cost in 2025?

How Much Does LASIK Cost in 2025?

The national average cost of LASIK is about $5000 for both eyes, but your final costs will depend on your particular needs and the treatment plan your eye doctor sets for you. LASIK costs vary by region.

Prices are often higher in areas with high costs of living, like New York or California. Surgeons with higher levels of experience and expertise may also charge increased fees.

It may be tempting to consider visiting a discount LASIK facility, but often, there is a reason why these locations offer cheaper pricing. Those practices may advertise a low cost, but in most cases, they will start tacking on additional fees to bring your final bill up to the same price you would pay at a more reputable practice.

In addition, those facilities may not have the most advanced technologies, so the service you get may not be the best available. Choosing a highly qualified eye doctor will ensure that you get the best care for your money and get the best possible result from LASIK.

Does Vision Insurance Cover LASIK Surgery?

LASIK is considered an elective procedure, so most health insurance plans, including Medicare, do not cover the costs. However, it’s always worth a call to your insurance company to see if they provide any coverage for vision correction procedures.

Vision plans are separate from your health insurance plan. While they usually don’t provide full coverage for LASIK, they may offer discounts on LASIK. Check with your vision plan to find out what assistance they may offer to bring your out-of-pocket costs down.

Can I Use FSA and HSA Plans to Pay for LASIK?

Many employers offer access to flexible spending accounts (FSA). You may also be eligible for a health savings account (HSA) if you have a high-deductible health insurance plan. These plans allow you to set aside money for eligible medical expenses, including LASIK.

If you opt into an FSA or HSA, you can elect to have a certain amount of money withheld from each paycheck and set aside in a special account. FSA and HSA contributions are withheld pre-tax, so they bring your annual tax burden down. At Rochester Eye and Laser Center, we accept both FSA and HSA accounts!

What Financing Options Are Available for LASIK?

Many patients opt to use their personal credit cards to finance some or all of their LASIK expenses. You can also consider financing through a healthcare credit line.

At Rochester Eye and Laser Center, we provide CareCredit financing. This option allows patients to receive the vision care they desire immediately. CareCredit offers financing with no upfront costs, manageable monthly payments, and no penalties for early repayment, provided payments are made within the agreed timeframe.

Financing is one of the most common methods to pay for a procedure like LASIK. Payment plans for elective procedures such as LASIK are widely available.

Most patients should qualify for a low-interest payment plan if they have good credit. With a no-interest program, you can make affordable monthly payments and still achieve the vision you desire.

Many patients can pay off their LASIK procedure using a no-interest plan in as little as two years. After that, you’ll enjoy your enhanced vision for the rest of your life!

Even if you decide against a payment plan, there are other ways to pay for LASIK without draining your savings. We also accept credit cards, offering another convenient payment method for your vision correction procedure.

No matter how you choose to pay, you can reduce the immediate financial impact of LASIK by spreading out the cost. With no-interest plans, you won’t pay more than the actual cost of LASIK. With so many payment options available, why not reconsider getting LASIK?

The team at Rochester Eye and Laser Center is eager to discuss financing options with you and assist in applying for Care Credit financing.
